It is needless for me to point out the

extreme undesirability of a representative of the Chinese in Honkong being appointed to the National Assembly of China and I would ask your instructions as to what course I am to pursue

should steps be taken to elect one.

The Chinese here do not seam to understand

the object of the Regulations to which Sir John Jordan refers nor

do they appear to be at all sympathetic towards the suggested representation by the Chinese Community of Hongkong.
